Privacy Policy
Updated June 25, 2026
This policy explains what socialmemory collects, how it is used, and what choices you have. Socialmemory helps you sync, search, organize, and use the X posts you already liked or bookmarked.
1. Information we collect
We collect the information needed to run your private socialmemory archive:
- Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive basic account details such as your email address, name, profile image, and Google account identifier.
- Saved X items. When you sync, socialmemory stores X likes and bookmarks, including post text, URLs, post identifiers, author names and handles, media URLs, saved source state, dates, and attached X context such as quote posts or X Articles when available.
- Library data you create. We store notes, tags, favorites, removed-item state, result-set links, and display preferences you add inside socialmemory.
- Sync and Agent Access data. We store sync status, sync history, agent token records, token activity logs, and setup state needed for Codex or Claude Code to use your archive.
- Billing information. Lemon Squeezy handles checkout, subscriptions, invoices, payment method details, and tax-related billing records. Socialmemory stores subscription status and related billing identifiers so the app can grant or pause access.
- Technical information. We may receive browser, device, session, log, error, and usage information needed to keep the service reliable and secure.
2. How we use information
We use information to provide and improve socialmemory, including to:
- sign you in and keep your account secure;
- sync your saved X likes and bookmarks into your private archive;
- show your web library, search results, filters, notes, tags, favorites, and result-set links;
- let Codex or Claude Code search, sync, read, annotate, tag, and create result links when you enable Agent Access;
- prepare and run Meaning search, which can find related ideas even when exact words differ;
- process subscriptions, trials, billing status, and access checks;
- detect abuse, debug failures, protect the service, and respond to support requests.
We do not sell your saved X archive or use it for third-party advertising.
3. X account access
Socialmemory does not ask for your X password. Sync works from a browser or local agent environment where you are already signed in to X. The Chrome extension or local connector may check your local X session to collect the likes and bookmarks you choose to sync. Socialmemory stores the saved-item data uploaded to your archive, not your X password.
Data collected through the socialmemory Chrome extension is used only to provide and improve its single purpose: syncing the X likes and bookmarks you choose into your private socialmemory library. We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or transfer it except as needed to operate socialmemory, comply with law, protect security, or follow your direction.
4. AI search and embeddings
Socialmemory can prepare saved-item text and metadata for Meaning search. This may include creating embeddings, which are numerical representations that help search find related ideas. When Meaning search is enabled, saved item content may be processed by an AI service provider for that purpose. Exact search remains available without Meaning search preparation.
5. Third-party services
Socialmemory relies on trusted service providers to operate the product:
- Supabase for authentication-related infrastructure, database storage, and file storage;
- Google for Google sign-in;
- Lemon Squeezy for subscriptions, checkout, billing, tax, and payment processing;
- X, your browser, and the socialmemory Chrome extension or local connector for syncing saved X items;
- AI service providers for Meaning search preparation and search when that feature is enabled;
- hosting, analytics, logging, email, and security providers as needed to operate the service.
These providers may process information according to their own policies. We only share what is needed for the service function they provide.
6. Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and browser storage for sign-in sessions, account state, security, preferences, redirects, and similar product functions. If you block cookies or local storage, sign-in and parts of the app may stop working correctly.
7. Data retention and deletion
We keep account and archive data while your account is active or as needed to operate the service. In Settings, you can delete synced X archive data from your socialmemory account. This does not delete anything from X.
You can also use the contact form for account deletion help. We may retain limited records when required for security, fraud prevention, tax, accounting, billing, legal, or operational reasons.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so you should keep your Google account, browser profile, local computer, and agent tools protected.
9. Your choices
- You can stop syncing by removing or disconnecting the Chrome extension or local connector.
- You can revoke Agent Access tokens from socialmemory.
- You can manage billing through the billing flow powered by Lemon Squeezy.
- You can delete synced archive data from Settings.
- You can contact us for account deletion or privacy questions.
10. Children
Socialmemory is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to socialmemory, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as socialmemory changes. When we make updates, we will change the updated date above. Continued use of socialmemory after an update means the updated policy applies.
12. Contact
For privacy questions or deletion requests, use the contact form or email pauline@socialmemory.dev.
